Geospatial Jobs #27: Nov 8, 2022
Welcome to the 27th issue of Geospatial Jobs, a career newsletter focusing on data science and geosciences (🌧climatetech, 🌽agtech, 🌊risk modeling, ⚡️energy, 🛰remote sensing, ♻️sustainability, and more). To check out previous issues, click here.
I was not much active in the past few months, and there are two main reasons for it:
I recently changed job and joined Google[X] (Alphabet’s Moonshot Factory). I will be working on developing machine learning and geospatial applications for environmental extreme events (among other things). New job, new things to figure out, paperwork, trainings, etc. ==> Less free time
I was born and raised in Iran (before moving to the US in 2013) and I have family and friends living in Iran. During the past ~2 months, there have been continuous protests across Iran and people demand freedom from the cruel Iranian regime (that has killed over 310 people in just the past few weeks, including more than 40 kids!!). In support of the Iranian people and their movement, there have been many rallies and protests across the world, and I have also attended the rallies around San Francisco bay area on my weekends. ==> Less free time on weekends
❓How can you help❓
It would be great to have one or two volunteers who can help with preparing the newsletter. If you’re interested to volunteer and you are willing to devote a couple of hours per week, please send me an email or contact me on LinkedIn.
✌️💚🤍❤️ You can also be the voice of Iranian people and be compassionate with them in these tough times. Share about the ongoing brutality of the Iranian regime on social media (search for hashtags: #MahsaAmini, #IranProtests2022, #IranRevolution), sign petitions and ask your politicians to facilitate transitioning to a free Iran (and thus a safer world ☮️).
